Yiddish

Upper Intermediate (Online)

Course description

Yiddish Upper Intermediate with Osian
Sundays 11:00am - 1:00pm, UK time

This Upper Intermediate class will be conducted largely in Yiddish; it is for students who will be able to understand and respond to basic instructions comfortably, and who have completed introductory textbooks like College Yiddish or Colloquial Yiddish.

Together, we will read a range of works, from classic short stories to modern poetry, considering in particular the role of women both as subjects and as authors of Yiddish literature. These texts will give us the opportunity to cover many nuanced, grammatical topics. There will also be time set aside to work on deciphering handwritten texts. Games and playful activities will be integrated into the course.

Students will be set weekly (optional) homework. All materials will be provided.

If you have any questions about the course or which level is right for you, please email us at babelsblessing@gmail.com.
