Adela
I have been teaching ESOL since 2014. I use participatory pedagogy to teach – this means that my students and I explore the world, in a critical way, asking many ‘why’ questions. We share our experiences, thoughts and feelings in dialogue with each other, building deep meaningful relationships. Language teaching comes from the conversations we have. I came to the UK in 2010 from Czechia. As a migrant myself, I know about what it’s like not being able to speak English well and learning about a new place from scratch. I am passionate about supporting my students on their journey to acquire the skills effectively communicate and make sense of the local context. I have taught in a number of different contexts, including community centres and initial accommodation for people seeking asylum.
Alexis
I have been teaching ESOL since 2017, with experience in China, the United States, Hungary, and the United Kingdom. I am passionate about teaching, as I believe that everyone has the right to literacy- it is a tool for communication, connection, and belonging. Having lived in China for 5 years, I understand the challenges of learning a new language while adapting to a different culture. This experience has shaped my belief that the most meaningful learning happens through building relationships and mutual understanding. I hold a CertTESOL and a PGCE, and I am a qualified teacher in the United Kingdom.
Francesca
Since receiving my Cert TESOL, I have been teaching English with a strong belief that learning languages should be fun and accessible. I have a strong focus on curriculum development, adapting lessons to the needs of my students. This approach allows us to go over practical vocabulary while improving our understanding of grammar. I enjoy learning more about my students’ lives and hope that our lessons can help them gain confidence in English-speaking environments.
