Yiddish Absolute Beginners

Course description

Yiddish Absolute Beginners with Motl (Face-to-face)
Tuesdays 6:00 - 8:00pm
At House of Annetta, Spitalfields, London

This class is for total newcomers to Yiddish and is designed to provide a safe and exciting context for new learners to start their study of the language.

We'll begin by learning the Yiddish alphabet (the alef-beys) before progressing to reading and writing basic expressions in Yiddish. Grammar will be brought to life by Yiddish poetry and song, drawing on the rich history of Yiddish-speaking radicalism, folklore, and art.

Our aim for the end of the term will be to have learned how to introduce ourselves, how to talk about where we live and what we like to do, and how to conduct basic conversations in the present tense.
