Latin American Spanish

Absolute Beginners

Absolute Beginners with Marina,
Tuesdays 17:00-19:00 UK time

Do you love hot chocolate? That’s four short syllables.
Now try: CHO-CO-LA-TE CA-LIEN-TE — seven deliciously long ones.

Spanish is a transparent language: almost every letter you see, you pronounce. Each syllable gets the same weight — democratic and musical.

Did you know “chocolate” comes from Nahuatl, the language of the Aztecs? Back then, cocoa beans were currency, and hot chocolate was reserved for special occasions — or a night out in ancient Tenochtitlán (now Mexico City).

This Absolut Beginners course will introduce you to:
New sounds and speaking rhythms
The magic of rolling your Rs
A binary gender system for everything and how to break it
And a vibrant mix of culture, history and Latin American music
