Travel through Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Argentina while developing your Spanish through music, literature, food, history and personal stories.
Designed for B1 students, this course will help you become more confident speaking about experiences, memories, opinions and emotions, while expanding your vocabulary and developing more complex ways of expressing yourself.
We will encounter the music of Totó la Momposina, ChocQuibTown, Lila Downs, Café Tacvba, Eva Ayllón and Milo J, and explore literature by writers including Gabriel García Márquez, Laura Esquivel, Juan Villoro, María Elena Walsh and Horacio Quiroga. Along the way, we will talk about Colombian expressions, Mexican food and family traditions, Peruvian cultural diversity, Argentine voseo, and the history of the Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo.
Each module combines conversation, reading and listening with a creative activity, from telling the story behind a photograph to sharing a family recipe or exploring the history of a cultural tradition.
Across the course, one question connects our journey through Latin America: How do we construct and tell our identities?
