Absolute Beginners A1 (In-Person)

Tuesdays 6:00 - 8:00pm

Spanish is amazing. . . It is defined as a transparent language, where you must pronounce almost every letter that you see. It could be even be called democratic: each syllable need to be pronounced for the same amount of time. It’s a new melody, a new bit for English speakers.

Do you love hot chocolate (4 short syllables)?

Are you ready to have a CHO-CO-LA-TE CA-LIEN-TE (7 long long syllables)?

Do you know that chocolate is a word from Nahuatl, Aztecs native language? A few centuries ago, during the Aztec empire, chocolate grains were the official currency. Hot chocolate was prepared for special occasions. Or you could drink all your money in Tenochtitlan bars (today’s Mexico City).

This absolute beginners course will allow you to get familiar with new sounds, new speaking times, and a grammar binary gender system for everything. Discover how to roll those Rs like there is no tomorrrrrrrrow. This course is an introduction to Latin American countries’ cultures and social political situations and, especially, to their music. Be ready to travel throughout traditional cumbia, tango or salsa songs to the latest Latin hip hop and reggaeton. Students' music suggestions and curiosity are welcome.

PLEASE NOTE: this course is for students who have no prior experience of learning Spanish. If you have already studied Spanish, with us or elsewhere, please sign up for Beginners.
